Picasso at the Nasher (part 2)     {Download Original Size}

Drawn by Beck Tench on August 19th, 2009

The Nasher is opening a Picasso exhibit tomorrow and I got a sneak peek today at an event for press and bloggers. I took two pages of notes/sketches. This page contains my observations from the exhibit itself, while my other drawing is from before we entered.

The first thing you’re greeted with is a wall with a description of the exhibit and a statement that "photography is not allowed," which I understand is out of the control of the museum, but also elicits much eye rolling from me every time I experience it.

My favorite piece in the exhibition was a book where Picasso had drawn several lines and dots connected to one another (here is an example, but it’s not the same one I saw today). It reminded me of some of the blog visualizations that I was trying to work out last month. I also was pleasantly overwhelmed and inspired by how prolific Picasso was.

I’ll be going back… the exhibit deserves several visits.
